I’ve visited Miami thrice since living in the US, and I discover something new and exciting every time. when is the best time to visit miami?
The best weather conditions in Miami are typically between January and March. I visited Miami in March 2024 for 10 nights, and the weather was perfect. It was sunny and dry, and the temperature hovered around the 80s, making it ideal for swimming in the ocean. In March 2023, I went with my bestie, and we enjoyed the same pleasant weather—not humid at all. Winter and early spring are the best time to visit Miami if you’re planning a trip. The rainy and hurricane seasons usually start in June and last until November, so it’s best to avoid visiting during these months. One time, I stayed in May, and it rained daily with high humidity—not the best experience! March is the most pleasant month to visit Miami, offering the perfect balance of beautiful weather and sunshine.
How to get to miami?
You can quickly fly into MIA, Miami’s main airport, to get to Miami. I flew with United from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and paid about $335 for a round-trip ticket for one person. If you want to save money, you can find cheaper flights by booking earlier. Once you arrive, you’ll find check-in luggage was free for me, and I even received a free upgrade to Economy Plus thanks to my Chase United Card. If you travel often, I highly recommend applying for this card, as it helps you earn miles for free upgrades, luggage, and even free flights. It’s a great way to make your travels more affordable and comfortable.
where to stay in miami?
When it comes to staying in Miami, there are many options. I stayed at two hotels, each offering a unique experience. The first was in South Beach, known for its vibrant touristy area and bustling atmosphere. South Beach is the best place for you if you enjoy being close to the action and the nightlife; Surfside might be a better choice if you prefer a quieter, more relaxed experience. It’s a quiet neighbourhood where locals live, offering a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Miami. Avoid staying directly near Ocean Drive since it’s often busy; finding a spot further away would be ideal for a calmer stay.
South Beach
If you’re visiting South Beach, stay at the Urbanica Euclid Hotel. This beautiful, spacious, and modern hotel offers stunning views, with palm trees visible right outside. The service is exceptional, with complimentary prosecco served daily at the front desk and beach towels readily available for guests. One thing that stands out about this hotel is its sister property, Urbanica Fifth, which has a swimming pool for guests to enjoy.
Visit the hotel’s restaurant, Editor, for delicious food and cocktails. It’s a great spot to relax after a long day of exploring. Whether you unwind by the pool or enjoy a delicious meal, Urbanica Euclid provides a fantastic experience for anyone visiting South Beach.
SURFSIDE & Bay harbor islands
If you’re looking for a quiet neighbourhood, Surfside and Bay Harbor Islands are the perfect place to stay in Miami. I stayed at the Altair Hotel in Surfside, just a 10-minute walk from the beach. The hotel is surrounded by a few coffee shops, making it easy to grab a bite or coffee whenever you want. One of the best things about staying at the Altair Hotel is its private beach, where guests enjoy free sunbeds and umbrellas. The hotel provides transportation every hour to the beach, making it very convenient.
The hotel’s breakfast buffet is amazing, with many delicious and healthy kosher options. It was the perfect start to the day. Whether you’re there to relax on the beach or enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, Surfside and Bay Harbor Islands offer a calm and enjoyable experience for anyone visiting Miami.

There’s so much to do and see in Miami. Whether you’re soaking up the sun at Miami Beach or exploring vibrant neighbourhoods, there’s something for everyone. You can enjoy eating great food from various cuisines or visit designer stores for the best shopping experience. These are some of the best things to do in Miami, making it a destination that offers relaxation and adventure.
soak up the sun at miami beach & check lifeguard towers
When in Miami, one of the best ways to relax is by spending time at Miami Beach. The water here is incredibly warm, clear, and turquoise, perfect for swimming or simply lounging. The beaches are not crowded, so you can chill and soak up the sun peacefully. To make the most of your visit, I recommend exploring beaches further from Ocean Drive, around Collins Ave and 42nd Street, where it’s quieter. Miami Beach is also famous for its picturesque and colourful lifeguard towers that line the shore.
For a unique way to explore, rent a bike and ride along the beach walk. This allows you to see the lifeguard towers up close while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the beach. It’s a great way to spend a day discovering more of Miami while enjoying the clear waters and sun.
BOOK A SUNSET CRUISE
One of the best experiences in Miami is to book a Sunset Cruise. It’s something to add to your bucket list! The affordable experience offers fantastic views of Miami downtown and the nearby islands. I highly recommend taking a golden hour cruise with the company Miami on the Water, where you can enjoy a scenic boat ride while the sun sets. It’s a great way to see the city from a different perspective. The ticket costs only $35, making it a budget-friendly option for everyone. If you want to make your trip to Miami even more unique, this cruise is a must-do!
Rent a bike aND go to south pointe park
I highly recommend renting bikes if you want a fun way to explore Miami Beach. We stayed at the Altair Hotel in Surfside and decided to rent bikes for the day. From there, we biked to the southern tip of Miami Beach and explored the area. A fantastic biking route along the beach offers beautiful views of the coastline and the iconic lifeguard towers. It’s a great way to enjoy the natural beauty of South Pointe Park, a peaceful green space in the South of Miami Beach.
During the ride, you can stop for a drink or snack at one of the spots along the way. I recommend renting the bikes for the whole day to maximise your time and fully explore Miami Beach. You’ll love the experience and the chance to see more of the city at your own pace!
Go to ocean drive (art deco district)
Ocean Drive is a famous street located in South Beach, well known for its vibrant nightlife. This is the place to visit if you want to experience beautiful Art Deco architecture. The street has stunning buildings, including iconic hotels like the Colony Hotel, Avalon Hotel, and the famous Versace Mansion. It’s a great spot to explore, whether during the day, when the area feels relaxed, or at night, when the bars and clubs bring the streets to life.
The sandy beach nearby is perfect for enjoying the sun, and the shops add a nice touch to your visit. While I wouldn’t recommend staying directly on Ocean Drive due to the loud atmosphere, it’s a fantastic place to visit and explore. Whether you’re there to enjoy the architectural nightlife or take a stroll, Ocean Drive is a must-see spot in Miami.
watch sunrise at key biscayne
Key Biscayne is my favourite spot for watching sunrises in Miami. It’s an ideal place to start your day, with the calm and peaceful atmosphere surrounding you. We visited Crandon Park, a beautiful location filled with palm trees that give off those perfect tropical vibes. The serene area offers an ideal view of the sun rising over the water. We rented a car to get there, and it was only a 20-minute drive from South Beach. The drive is easy and well worth it for the breathtaking views that greet you in the morning.
Watch sunset from Biscayne Bay Path
If you’re looking for an incredible spot to watch the sunset, head to the Biscayne Bay Path. This picturesque walkway along the water offers one of the best views of downtown Miami. The location is ideal for those who want to experience the vibrant colours of the sunset over the city skyline. The access to the path is free, making it an affordable way to enjoy the scenery. However, there are few parking places, so it’s best to arrive early to secure a spot. Whether you’re strolling or just relaxing, this spot is perfect for watching the sun dip below the horizon in Miami.

Miami Magic Mountain is a must-see for art lovers and Instagram enthusiasts alike. This impressive street art installation is inspired by the Seven Magic Mountains in Nevada, near Las Vegas. Located in Collins Park, at 2100 Collins Avenue, Miami, it features vibrant and colourful sculptures for the perfect photo opportunity. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and snap a few pictures of this stunning display that draws visitors from all over the world. It’s an artistic spot that adds a touch of magic to your Miami experience.
Visit an alligator farm in everglades
If you want an exciting and fun experience, I highly recommend visiting the Everglades Alligator Farm. We decided to stop by on our trip back from Key West, and it was definitely worth it! The highlight of the visit was the airboat ride, which was terrific. Although the ride was short, we had a blast and enjoyed every moment. If you’re ever in the area, it’s a must-do! I will also write a separate blog post about our Key West trip, which was equally unforgettable. For now, the Everglades Alligator Farm is a unique adventure you shouldn’t miss on your Miami trip.
Explore wynwood art district
The Wynwood District is a must-visit if you love street art and murals. Known for its eclectic restaurants, designer shops, and industrial buildings, Wynwood has a very authentic vibe. The streets are stunning, especially when you visit Wynwood Walls, where you can see beautiful murals. A ticket costs around $12 to explore the area and view the vibrant artwork. Don’t miss 1-800-Lucky, a large food hall with great vibes. If you’re looking for something more hidden, head over to the speakeasy Dante’s HIFI+, recommended by a local friend. It’s a place you’ll love to explore, combining culture, art, and great food in one area.

If you’re a foodie like me, Miami has some of the best restaurant selections in the United States. I grew up in Europe with high standards for food, and I can tell you that the delicious food here is fantastic. Whether you’re looking to explore new places or visit your favourite restaurants, you’ll find something that satisfies your taste buds. I’ve visited a few places, and they serve incredible meals, perfect for sharing on Instagram!
Gitano miami
Gitano is a beautiful restaurant offering both Mexican and Mediterranean cuisine. Located at Casa Faena, a charming boutique hotel, the restaurant features a stunning rooftop lounge where you can enjoy cocktails while soaking in the views. We had delicious mains during our visit, and I tried the Branzino fish wrapped in banana leaves—it was so good! The staff were excellent, and we loved every moment of our experience. Whether you’re looking for a casual drink or a full meal, Gitano offers a fantastic experience in Miami, making it a must-visit for food lovers.
Cafe bastille
Cafe Bastille is the perfect spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch if you’re looking for a cute cafe in Miami. It’s a French-inspired café with two locations in the city — one in South Beach and the other in Miami Downtown. I visited the one in South Beach, and everything I tried was delicious. Their favourite dishes include a salmon bowl and avocado toast with poached eggs, which I highly recommend. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a great place to enjoy a cosy meal with excellent flavours.
BurgermEister
If you’re looking for the best spot to enjoy a delicious and affordable burger, Burgermeister is a must-visit! It has two locations: one in Miami Downtown and another in South Beach. We found the first one to be slightly better and less touristy, which made for a more relaxed experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, Burgermeister serves a great burger worth checking out.
Fratelli la bufala
If you’re looking for a cute, authentic Italian restaurant in South Beach, Miami, Fratelli la Bufala is a must-visit. This cosy spot is famous for its delicious pizzas and lasagne that genuinely capture the essence of Italian cooking. It’s been our go-to spot for many memorable dinners, and every visit feels like a warm and welcoming experience. The restaurant is run by Italians, ensuring the food is as authentic as it gets, bringing Italy right to the heart of Miami. Whether you’re craving traditional pizza or other Italian dishes, this place never disappoints!
NOVIKOV MIAMI
If you’re looking for an upscale, elegant restaurant in Miami’s downtown, Novikov is a fantastic choice. With its Japanese influence, the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing evening after a sunset cruise. The restaurant is just a 5-minute walk from the dock, making it easily accessible. I highly recommend stopping by for delicious cocktails and bao buns. Although Novikov can be expensive, it’s worth the splurge for the quality experience, especially if you want to enjoy some appetizers.
Dante’s hi-fi
If you’re in Wynwood, don’t forget to add Dante’s HIFI to your cocktail bar bucket list. This speakeasy is known for its great vibes and is a local favourite. A local friend highly recommended it, and I can see why! The cocktails were not only delicious but also creatively crafted. Whether you want to unwind or enjoy a lively atmosphere, Dante’s HIFI offers the perfect setting. It’s a must-visit spot in Wynwood, combining a cosy atmosphere with excellent drinks.
PURA VIDA
If you’re looking for a relaxed spot to enjoy great food in Miami, visit Pura Vida. This all-day cafe chain is famous for its delicious iced latte and nutritious acai bowls. It’s the perfect place to grab a healthy breakfast or enjoy a mid-day pick-me-up. Whether you want to chill or catch up with friends, Pura Vida offers a vibrant and cosy atmosphere. With multiple locations around the city, it’s easy to find one near you, and we loved everything about this place!
